What Is Reiki Treatment?

Reiki Treatment differs from many other treatment forms because it doesn’t use any type of medication. Reiki Treatment is based on the use of (unseen) universal life force energy (for more information about this ready my post: How Does Reiki Work). During Reiki Treatment person to receive reiki treatment usually lies down on the reiki table (or even on the ground), and remains fully closed. There might be some relaxation background music but it is not necessary for reiki treatment to be effective. Also it is very common that Reiki Practitioner talks during the reiki treatment. Here is the break down on different methods of reiki treatment:

Methods of Reiki Treatment?

1.Reiki Self Treatment

  • Full Body Treatment
  • Absent Treatment
  • Mental Treatment

2.Treating The Others

  • In person Treatment (Full Body Treatment, Localize Treatment Or Intuitive Treatment).
  • Absent Reiki Treatment.
  • Mental/Emotional Treatement.

Reiki Self Treatment- Full Body Treatment

When it comes to reiki self healing probably one of the most known technique is so called reiki full body treatment. This type of reiki self healing as the name implies treats full body vs. reiki localized treatment where we focus only on one area. This reiki self healing technique consist of twelve main hand positions. While the reiki self healing is usually being done in the evening it is recommended to do reiki chakra balancing in the morning before we leave the bed. However, keep in mind that the time doesn’t play that important role and you can do it whenever you have some time.

Finally, it is important to understand that all you need to do is intend to heal and place your hands and let the reiki do the rest. We can not take any credit for any healing that takes place for it is not us who heals. It could be said that we only facilitate the healing.
When it comes to learning the reiki self healing hand positions keep in mind that over the time you might develop you own style and might change these positions. This is absolutely fine. As we have mentioned it so times, practicing reiki is so simply. Treat the injured or area in pain for as long as it feels necessary but keep in mind that Reiki is complimentary therapy and doesn’t replace medical professional so if you treat others remind them that you can not make any diagnosis (unless you are certified medical professional)

Absent Self Treatment

It needs too be pointed out that reiki self healing could also be carried out via absent reiki. This of course assumes that reiki practitioner has received necessary training and attunement and is knowledgeable of reiki healing symbols. Reiki self healing via absent reiki comes very handy when we have to treat our back or other body area which would be hard to reach otherwise. In addition it is very easy to perform any other reiki self healing technique via absent reiki and practitioner do incorporate absent reiki in their daily reiki self healing practice.

Treating The Others

Full Body Reiki Treatment vs. Intuitive Treatment

It is said the Dr. Usui was using intuitive approach to reiki treatment. It is usually referred to as Reiki Byosen Scanning and is based on scanning body for the problem area (or hibiki). This technique is based on the idea that negative energy or hibiki will give different sensations due to different vibration.
While this technique seems to be simple in its form it is rather considered to be advanced technique and it assumes that practitioner already have developed his/her subtle energy sensation ability.

To make things even more complicated not everybody will experience the same sensations. One could feel pulsing while for other it could be some sort of pulling, tingling, heat, coolness or even pain. In addition to this another point to consider when using intuitive approach during reiki treatment is that while the source of illness may be at one point its manifestation could be somewhere else in the body.
The practitioner does this technique by starting from the prayer position making his intent statement and start scanning person usually from the top of the head and moving slowly down the body. The hands are usually held 1-2 inch away from the body.

The Benefits Of Reiki Treatment.

Benefits of Reiki Treatment include:

  • Deep Relaxation And Stress Reduction.
  • Improves Body Immune System
  • Helps Reduce Pain
  • Assist Body In Cleaning Itself From Toxins
  • Improves Sleep
  • Supports Healing Process
  • Can Increase Body Vibrations
  • May Reduce Blood Pressure

The 3 Elements Of Reiki Treatment:

It is very common that Reiki Practitioner after years of practicing Reiki slightly changes/adjust reiki technique to fit better into his/hers style. So, over the years I came to like follow method of doing reiki treatment. Is consist of three parts.

  1. Gasho
  2. Reiki Treatment Intent Statement.
  3. Full Body Treatment Hand Positions.

Gassho

I like to start each session with Gassho for simple reason that it brings me very quickly into meditative state and calms my mind. The technique itself is very simple. Just bring the hand, palms together in front of our heart and bring awareness to the top of fire fingers (the middle fingers). It usually takes 2-3 breath in this position and than go over to ..

Intent Statement

This is where many Reaiki Masters will differ. Some do not practice intent statement saying that Reiki will know where to flow and what to do. I want to make it perfectly clear here that I am not challenging this belief at all. However, over the years it is my experience that I had better results if my intent statement is very clear.

While some object that having intent statement has something to do with ego I happen to believe that the universe is unlimited source for what ever we need. In addition I think that have all the rights to claim our part and by doing so it will not affect somebody else. For example if I take my part it doesn’t mean that there is nothing left for somebody else. It would mean that we fundamentally mis-understand the meaning of “unlimited”.

As to the intent statement it is very simple. From the Gassho position I bring both hand (palm still together) in front of 3rd eye. The back of the thumbs may slightly touch our 3rd eye, breath in and say the statement in my mind

“I ask this reiki healing session to…….”

Please notice this is rather request than begging since as I said above I think that we have every right to claim our part (of what ever we need) from the Universe.

After this I would proceed with the treatment. This remains the same regardless of what treatment method will be used.

Reiki And Stress Management Tips

Category : Reiki Healing

Unfortunately, the stress is “byproduct” of modern society and it seems that everybody is to the certain extent “infected”. Even-though so many people suffer there is no one-for-all solution available and everybody has to find his/hers own way of coping and managing the stress.

Reiki is becoming very popular among those suffering from stress due the fact that one of the “side-effects” of practicing Reiki is deep relaxation. This alone coupled with the fact that reiki is safe and easy to practice bring more and more people to Reiki.

Before we look into how Reiki can help in stress management let’s first see what in the world is stress.

What is stress anyway?

Stress is something that we feel. It is a way our body responds to threat (real or even perceived one) and sometimes it is not a bad thing for it keeps us focused and motivated. However, if we stay exposed to stress for extended period of time it might seriously affect our health.

As mentioned above our body responds to real threat as well as to perceived threat the same way. Our nervous system produces more of the so called stress hormones (adrenaline & cortisol) preparing our body to “fight or flight” response. We can experience this as:

  • Heart Pounding
  • Muscle Tensions
  • Fast Breathing
  • High Blood Pressure etc.

If we are not able to release stress it could lead to many serious health conditions such as:

  • Headache, stomachache and/or any other pain
  • Heart Disease
  • Weak Immune System
  • Depression and many more.

What causes stress and how to deal with it?

Unfortunately, many things can cause stress and it is commonly known as a stressor. Some of the most common stressors include:

  • Life Style and/or major changes in our life style (getting married etc)
  • Death in the family (or dear friend)
  • Work related (work too demanding, unreasonable boss etc)
  • Relationship related
  • Financial Difficulties
  • Kids and/or family related
  • Social related issues (such as being discriminated against for any reason (race, gender, color, sexual orientation etc) being poor and so on.

This list can go on and on and all of these stressors could be called external stressors. As if we don’t have enough to worry about with all these external stressor we also self-create many more so called internal stressors such as:

  • Negative self talk
  • Pessimism
  • Perfectionism
  • Inability to let go and so on.

How To Deal With Stress?

If we are looking for a “magic pill” ..well as much as we do not like it– simple put there is no such thing. Instead medical society teaches us to manage our stress. Some of the recommendations to manage stress include:

  • Come up with new way of thinking. When we discover that we worry to much we should stop that thought and learn to “let go”.
  • Organize our time better so we can accomplish more in less time.
  • Find better ways to cope with stress. As always something works and something doesn’t work.
  • Get plenty of rest.
  • Do not smoke.
  • Look for the help.

When it comes how to release the stress out of our system it is recommended to:

  • Exercise (walk)
  • Express your feelings (talk, laugh, cry-usually with somebody you can trust)
  • Get some hobby.
  • Learn to relax. (breathing exercise, yoga, tai-chi, massage etc)
  • Try to laugh more (read comics, watch funny movies etc).
  • Try self hypnosis or meditation.
  • Practice Reiki Daily  (Including Reiki Precepts)

Reiki And Stress Reduction?

How Reiki Can Help With Stress Management and Stress Reduction?

As Albert Einstein and Niels Borh (who is Nobel Price Winner) have discovered that everything is energy including our body and our thoughts and on that premise it becomes much clearer how reiki can help since Reiki itself is universal life force energy or as many say spirituality guided energy which in very simplified will “scan” and “re-pattern” our energy body. (Here is my article on How Reiki Works

Reiki Techniques For Stress Reduction:

Reiki Full Body Treatment

Reiki Full Body Treatment is excellent place to start. I particularly like to do reiki full body treatment each night when you go in bed and follow up with the chakra balancing in the morning. And here is the challenge for those who are reiki practitioners. Try out this technique for the month and see the difference for yourself. (Bellow You will find short video that will show how I do full body treatment. Please pay attention that I use slightly modified reiki hand positions)

Reiki Precepts

While above reiki techniques will help reduce and control our stress level in order to move to the next level and be stress free one should apply Reiki Precepts. Reiki Precepts are at the heart of each serious reiki practice. They provide us one of the best recipes for long lasting happiness. Here is one of the many translation:

The Secret Method Of Inviting Blessings

The Spiritual Medicine Of Many Illnesses

Just For Today, I Will Be Free Of Anger

Just For Today, I Will Be Free Of Worry

With Gratitude

I Will Live My Life Honestly

And Be Kind To All Living Things

The Founder,

Mikao Usui

It is important to remind ourselves that when we recite the reiki precepts we should bring some enthusiasm and not do it as if somebody forces us to say it. For those who have difficulties to believe what this can do let me show you this amazing video by Rebecca Marina who demonstrates how EFT techniques can change blood. Watch this Now!

Reiki Mental/Emotional Healing

This technique will be available for those who are already attuned to Reiki Level 2. As I plan on putting out an article specifically designed to explain what is and how reiki mental treatment work at this point I will not go over the details. I assume that Reiki 2 student will be familiar with this technique.

Reiki For The (Future) Events

This technique will also be available for those Reiki Practitioners who are already attuned to reiki 2. Based on my experience many reiki practitioners do not use this technique for various reason. However, I have very good experience with this reiki technique and would highly recommend it. This technique will require some ability to visualize and standard distant/future reiki technique.

Reiki And Affirmations

Reiki works very well with the affirmations. Even-though everybody talks about affirmations they could be little bit tricky. In addition to “being tricky” it does take some time to overcome resistance and the “time factor” seems to be one of the main reasons why many people give up practicing affirmations. Luckily, there are some great software programs that work great and I have/am using two of them (NP2-Brain Waive Entrainment and Mindmaster based on the power of subliminal messages) My full review of both programs is coming soon.

Balancing Third and Sixth Chakra

One of the quick ways to reduce stress is to balance our third and sixth chakra. If we discover during the day that we are stressed we could take short break and for couple of minutes balance our 3rd and 6th chakra. (The video below will show how to balance 3rd and 6th chakra).

.

Keep in mind again that Reiki is not meant to replace a professional medical care but rather to support it.

How Does Reiki Work-Still The Mystery?

1

Category : Usui Reiki

When it comes to subject of How Does Reiki Work it seems that there are only handful things that most of reiki practitioners (or for that mater reiki masters) agree upon. While everybody agrees that Reiki WORKS it seems that nobody seems to know how exactly it works.

In the Reiki Ryoho Gokkai Hand Book that “floats around on the internet” Dr. Usui the founder of the Usui Reiki apparently had said that even he was having a hard time explaining exactly how does reiki work. Here is the excerpt talking about it:

Question: How does Usui Reiki Ryoho work?

Dr. Usui: I’ve never been given this method by anybody nor studied to get psychic power to heal. I accidentally realized that I have received healing power when I felt the air in mysterious way during fasting. So I have a hard time explaining exactly even I am the founder. Scholars and men of intelligence have been studying this phenomenon but modern science can’t solve it. But I believe that day will come naturally.

Ever since Dr. Usui introduced reiki to the world, the scholars and men of intelligence have indeed been studying this phenomenon and yet how reiki works still remains a mistery. In order to get closer to the understanding of how reiki works we should start by introducing the concept of the Energy Body.

Reiki And The Concept Of Energy Body.

In order to understand and eventually answer the question how does reiki work one must first understand the concept of our energy body. Our physical body is vital and alive due to fact that unseen (for most people at least) life force energy nourishes and supports it vital organs and their functions.

In addition to flow “within the body” it also surrounds us creating the energy field called the aura which can be seen by some people and felt by most. The energy centers responsible to receive, assimilate, and express life force energy are called chakras. It is believed that chakras correspond with the endocrine gland system and as such play very important role in maintaining overall well being.

If the flow of life force is interrupted than it will have very negative effect on our health. It is believed that stress, fear, and anxiety among the other could create blocks and prevent life force energy to flow.

Reiki is used to re-establish the normal energy flow by raising the level of vibration in the affected area. So it needs to be understood that reiki doesn’t work as a medicine in common sense for it doesn’t tackle the symptom itself but rather the cause of the illness.

How Does Reiki Work-The Scientific Research?

It might be very interesting to mention the scientific research that was looking into how does reiki work and what happens whilst people practicing therapies like Reiki. The independent study was conducted by Dr. Robert Becker and John Zimmerman during 1980.

They found out that not only do the brain wave patterns of practitioner and receiver become synchronized in the alpha state, characteristic of deep relaxation and meditation, but they pulse in unison with the earth’s magnetic field, known as the Schuman Resonance.  During these moments, the bio-magnetic field of the practitioners’ hands is at least 1000 times greater than normal, and not as a result of internal body current

Furthermore, Zimmerman (1990) in the USA and Seto (1992) in Japan further investigated the large pulsating bio-magnetic field that is emitted from the hands of energy practitioners whilst they work.  They discovered that the pulses are in the same frequencies as brain waves, and sweep up and down from 0.3 – 30 Hz, focusing mostly in 7 – 8 Hz, alpha state.  Independent medical research has shown that this range of frequencies will stimulate healing in the body, with specific frequencies being suitable for different tissues.  For example, 2 Hz encourages nerve regeneration, 7Hz bone growth, 10Hz ligament mending, and 15 Hz capillary formation. Here is the link to the article: The science behind reiki

There are so many issues that should be considered when talking about this topic and this is beyond the scope of this article. For those who are heavily into this subject we recommend to search for more articles listed by our categories in the top right corner and as always your comments are very welcomed.

What Is Reiki-How Prominent Reiki Masters Define Reiki?

Category : Usui Reiki

Due to ever growing popularity of Healing Reiki more and more people looking to find more information about this amazing system of natural healing and self development. Even-though there is a lot of information about Reiki out there, the average person still feels as if something is missing-something hasn’t been told.

The issue we are facing here is due to the nature of Reiki itself and the way we as humans process the information about the world. In order to learn something about anything we need to run it through our senses and to apply some well accepted metrics such as how big, how small, how heavy, warm or cold, liquid-gas-or matter etc.

Unfortunately when it comes to something as the Reiki the above metrics can not be applied and in order to form (educated) opinion about Reiki one doesn’t have much of the choice but to experience it first hand. This has been understood by Reiki community very well and everybody seeking more info about Reiki is encouraged to experience short Reiki Session.

Due to us being unique in many ways everybody’s experience with Reiki was/is is slightly different which than has created some confusion in the field of defining Reiki.

It is goal of this article to point to these differences and use them as the learning tool. We should be aware that just because somebody else had made different experience than ours it doesn’t have to mean that we are wrong since simply put, there is no wrong or wright experience.

Speaking of experiences, let’s now look into what some prominent Reiki Masters think about Reiki.

How Do Prominent Reiki Master Respond To The Question What Is Reiki?

We also were very interested to find the answer to this and did some interesting research. We went out and checked our several reiki sites and here are the findings.

  1. Our first stop was John Harvey Gray Center for Reiki Healing (www.learnreiki.org). John is longest practicing Reiki Master Teacher who received his entire training from Ms. Takata Hawayo. He is one of the original 22 Reiki Master Teachers trained by Ms. Takata. His site defines reiki as : ” Reiki (pronounced “ray-key”) is the Japanese word for “universal Life Energy.”
  2. However, Ms. Pamela Miles- the author of the reiki book “Reiki: A Comprehensive Guide” (www.reikimedecine.org) has very strong feeling if somebody starts with “Reiki is Japanese word meaning universal life energy. She expressed this clearly in her post titled “Reiki is not a word” She recommends to use our hands instead of the words.
  3. William Land Lee, the founder of Karuna Reiki at his website The International Center For Reiki Training defines reiki as :”Reiki is Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing.”
  4. Our next stop The Reiki Page with David Harron :“Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a method of natural healing based on the application of ULFE (Universal Life Force Energy)
  5. NCCAM (National Center for Complimentary and Alternative Medicine) defines reiki as “a healing practice originated in Japan”
  6. At the Reiki Treshold by Richard River Reiki is defined as : “Reiki (Ray-Key) is natural healing technique.”
  7. James Deacon at Reiki Pages (aetw.org) “Essentially, Reiki is the term used to refer to system of healing and self-development created by Mikao Usui.”

Who Is Right, Who Is Wrong And Does It Matter At All?

Even though some of these answers are different it by no means should be perceived that one is more accurate than the other. We should remind ourselves that the way we experience reiki is our own and it may very well be different from some other experiences out there (just as with about anything else). I do not doubt that if we focus ourselves to find differences we will-just as we would find the similarities if we want to.

As if this wasn’t complicated enough the term reiki is being used interchangeable to refer to both the ULFE as well as the system of natural healing (or technique for relaxation).

How We Define Reiki?

It is our understanding here at Healing Reiki that reiki is the system (or the technique if you will) that is based on the use of unseen ULFE for healing and self development and when we say “Universal” we really mean it-something that is universally available and universally applicable as well.

Even-though the above article has hardly touched the surface when it comes to defining reiki we hope that you did enjoy it and found some valuable information that you can put to good use. It is our understanding that those who are heavily into this subject are likely to want to know more. For those who want to learn more we have provided a lot of how-to articles, videos and resources. For more similar articles please check out our category:Usui Reiki or search other related categories.

So, now we have spoken :-) ) it is time to hear it from you “What Is Reki”. Let’s hear it!
